Welcome to the Midwest Tri-State chapter of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association
Our chapter headquarters are located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. If you want to learn how to train your versatile dog to be the hunting companion you've always dreamed of, please join us. Details on training dates, times and locations may be found on our calendar. Puppies as young as 8 weeks old benefit from the socialization experiences. Training opportunities are abundant and most often include access to pigeon, quail, duck, chukar and/or pheasant. After all, a bird dog can't be effectively trained without birds.
Thinking of getting a hunting dog? Come join us and watch different breeds in action. That may help you decide which breed is right for you. No experience = no problem! We have members that range from first time dog handlers to professional trainers, but we all have one thing in common - we want to train both ourselves and our dogs to have the best time in the field as possible when hunting season opens.
Already have a trained dog? Keep your hunting buddy engaged and active all year long. We have fun social functions for you both to enjoy in the off season. In the spring we host a Pheasant Championship where dogs and handlers have a friendly competition for a traveling trophy. Other social events include an annual Chukar Championship, as well as fun shoots at Hunter's Pointe and Clay Bird. The camaraderie with other dog and hunting enthusiasts is hard to beat.
